On our English lesson we discussed the problem of overcrowded North
Hollywood High School. We investigated student`s letters, their opinion to this
problem and tried to voice our views.
The ways that were proposed by authority don`t satisfy students, their
parents and teachers. The authority offers to go year-round with four tracks.
But it settles the problem partly. The weak side is cutting school year by 17
days. It influences on testing scores and has many other defects. Also families
are unable to coordinate family times and vacations.
According to all this arguments, students and their parents met this
plan with much opposition. Several times they organized peaceful protests to
abolish this program.
Nevertheless, authority has it`s own notion on this question. The main
of them are shown in Venn diagram. There are also student`s and parent`s reasons
against the program.
As we can
see all participants have their strong evidences. But to my mind every member
is caused detriment. Authority should find other ways to solve the problem of
overcrowded school. One of these ways can be building new schools.
